A quick overview on interacting with land titles
In this Tutorial:
Apply filters to refine your search;
Visualise land title data in multiple ways;
Access detailed information, including hyperlinks to ownership records.
Step 1: Select an Area
Open a Data Studio session and select your target area (e.g., Islington);
Drag the Active Layer panel to the right toolbar for convenience.
Step 2: Access Land Titles
Click on the Land Titles panel (second tile in the left toolbar);
In the popup:
Filter Tab: Apply filters to refine results;
Visualise Tab: Choose how data is displayed on the map (e.g., by class of title or ownership).
Step 3: Apply Filters
Gross External Area: Set a range (e.g., 0–50,000 sq. meters);
Class of Title: Focus on specific titles (e.g., Freehold, Leasehold) by deselecting others like Unregistered or Rent Charge;
Use Class: Filter by specific classes (e.g., exclude B8, F1, F2);
Additional Filters:
Site density;
Ownership type;
Energy ratings;
Click Apply Filters.
Step 4: Visualise Land Titles
Zoom into the map to render filtered data (larger titles appear first);
Default Visualisation:
All land titles appear in blue;
Change Visualisation:
Use the dropdown to switch views (e.g., Class of Title, Ownership, or Use Class);
Example:
Class of Title: Freehold (teal) and Leasehold (purple);
Ownership: UK Companies (teal), Overseas Companies (purple), Private Owners (yellow).
Step 5: Interact with Land Titles
Layer Transparency:
The darker the shade (e.g., purple), the more layers (e.g., leaseholds) on the freehold;
Right-Click:
Remove layers to reveal details of underlying titles;
Example: Right-click to hide the Freehold layer and expose the Leasehold layers;
Reset Layers:
Use the Bin Icon (right toolbar) to restore all layers.
Step 6: Explore Ownership Details
Click on a specific land title (e.g., Toll Puddle Street);
Access detailed information:
Ownership details;
Hyperlinks to Companies House for further investigation.
Additional Features
Change Visualisation:
Switch to other metrics such as Energy Ratings or Site Density;
Save Data:
Learn how to save land titles or sessions in advanced tutorials.
Key Tips
Zoom Levels:
Zoom in for smaller land titles; zoom out for larger titles;
Layer Order:
Reorder active layers for better visualisation.
