A quick overview on interacting with land titles

In this Tutorial:

• Apply filters to refine your search;

• Visualise land title data in multiple ways;

• Access detailed information, including hyperlinks to ownership records.

Step 1: Select an Area

1. Open a Data Studio session and select your target area (e.g., Islington);

2. Drag the Active Layer panel to the right toolbar for convenience.

Step 2: Access Land Titles

1. Click on the Land Titles panel (second tile in the left toolbar);

2. In the popup:

   1. Filter Tab: Apply filters to refine results;

   2. Visualise Tab: Choose how data is displayed on the map (e.g., by class of title or ownership).

Step 3: Apply Filters

1. Gross External Area: Set a range (e.g., 0–50,000 sq. meters);

2. Class of Title: Focus on specific titles (e.g., Freehold, Leasehold) by deselecting others like Unregistered or Rent Charge;

3. Use Class: Filter by specific classes (e.g., exclude B8, F1, F2);

4. Additional Filters:

   1. Site density;

   2. Ownership type;

   3. Energy ratings;

5. Click Apply Filters.

Step 4: Visualise Land Titles

1. Zoom into the map to render filtered data (larger titles appear first);

2. Default Visualisation:

   1. All land titles appear in blue;

3. Change Visualisation:

   1. Use the dropdown to switch views (e.g., Class of Title, Ownership, or Use Class);

   2. Example:

      1. Class of Title: Freehold (teal) and Leasehold (purple);

      2. Ownership: UK Companies (teal), Overseas Companies (purple), Private Owners (yellow).

Step 5: Interact with Land Titles

1. Layer Transparency:

   1. The darker the shade (e.g., purple), the more layers (e.g., leaseholds) on the freehold;

2. Right-Click:

   1. Remove layers to reveal details of underlying titles;

   2. Example: Right-click to hide the Freehold layer and expose the Leasehold layers;

3. Reset Layers:

   1. Use the Bin Icon (right toolbar) to restore all layers.

Step 6: Explore Ownership Details

1. Click on a specific land title (e.g., Toll Puddle Street);

2. Access detailed information:

   1. Ownership details;

   2. Hyperlinks to Companies House for further investigation.

  • Switch to other metrics such as Energy Ratings or Site Density;

• Save Data:

Key Tips

• Zoom Levels:

  • Zoom in for smaller land titles; zoom out for larger titles;
